Volunteer
Everyone can volunteer! Volunteers under 16 years of age must be accompanied by a parent or legal guardian. All volunteers (or parent/guardian) will need to sign a waiver and attend a training before being authorized to volunteer at the shelter. Please call to schedule an appointment.
Foster an animal
Our Foster Care Program allows local community members to care for pets who are too young or sick to be at the shelter. Foster care can cost People for Pets 100s of dollars per month per family, and care for newborns is a 7-12 week commitment. Up to 10 litters of puppies and 270 kittens are fostered out by PFP each year.
Come to an event
People for Pets hosts several fundraising events every year to raise funds for our shelter. Come out and support us at an event or join in online!
Community involvement
We offer community service and other opportunities for community involvement. For example, the Pet Food Pantry for low-income pet owners has been successful because of businesses who seek to give back to their community.
People for Pets
Magic Valley Humane Society, Inc. is seeking new members to join the Board of Directors. Our all-volunteer Board meets at least quarterly.
Founded in 1988, People for Pets oversees the operation of the Twin Falls Animal Shelter, which provides shelter and care to our community’s lost and unwanted pets, as well as humane education programs, lost and found and adoption services and other functions to improve the lives of companion animals in the Magic Valley.
People for Pets is seeking leaders from a variety of educational, professional and cultural backgrounds who support our organization’s life saving mission.
Board members are required to attend quarterly board meetings and serve on at least one board committee. They should be able to devote time to fundraising and committee projects. Board members are expected to complete a two or three-year term and to champion Twin Falls Animal Shelter work throughout the community.

Expansion
Help Us Unlock $50,000 for Our Expansion
Building Hope. Saving More Lives. Expanding the Twin Falls Animal Shelter. For more than 35 years, the Twin Falls Animal Shelter has been committed to giving homeless pets a second chance. Thanks to the incredible support of our community, we have transformed animal welfare in the Magic Valley. But as our community continues to grow, so does the need for our services.
Every year, thousands of animals rely on us for safety, medical care, and a path to a loving home. Our current facility was never designed to meet today's demands, and we have simply outgrown our space. That's why we're expanding.
Why We Need More Space
Our expansion will allow us to provide better care for every animal that comes through our doors while improving safety, reducing stress, and increasing our lifesaving capacity.
The project includes:
A Dedicated Cat Adoption & Housing Center
Cats have unique needs that differ greatly from dogs. Our new cat facility will provide a quieter, low-stress environment designed around
industry best practices, helping cats stay healthier, feel more comfortable, and find homes faster.
New Dog Intake & Quarantine Areas
Incoming dogs need a safe place to receive medical evaluations and vaccinations before joining the adoption population. Expanded intake and quarantine space will help reduce the spread of disease while improving the health of every dog in our care.
Future Surgical Suite
Our long-term vision includes an on-site surgery suite that will allow us to perform spay and neuter surgeries and other medical procedures without relying solely on outside veterinary clinics. This will shorten adoption wait times, reduce shelter stays, and improve the care we can provide.
The Impact
With this expansion, we will be able to:
Provide safer, healthier housing for homeless pets. Reduce illness through improved quarantine and disease control. Create a peaceful environment designed specifically for cats. Increase the number of animals we can care for. Help pets become available for adoption more quickly. Improve the experience for adopters, volunteers, and staff. Continue moving toward a future where every healthy and treatable pet has the opportunity to find a loving home.
A Community Project
This expansion is only possible because of the generosity of our community. Every donation, sponsorship, and act of support brings us one step closer to opening doors that will save lives for decades to come. When you invest in this project, you're not simply helping construct a building—you are creating a place where frightened animals find safety, families find lifelong companions, and hope begins again every single day.
Together, we can build a brighter future for the animals of the Magic
Valley.
Join us in building hope—one paw at a time.
